Since peat is not available on the Asian island of Taiwan, this single malt draws it’s peated flavor from casks which previously contained Scottish whisky from Islay. The result is a dram that layers Kavalan’s signature tropical notes with a hint of perfectly integrated smoke. Kavalan Single Malt Whisky
When Kavalan was established in 2005, it was the first distillery on the island of Taiwan. Based in Yilan County, south of the Taiwan capital, Taipei, Kavalan benefits from the pure water, fresh air and subtropical climate of the region, making it an ideal place for whisky production. High humidity and an annual average temperature of a balmy 22º celsius (72º fahrenheit) accelerate the maturation process of Taiwanese whiskies, resulting in a fruity, rich spirit that is old before its time. While still a young distillery, Kavalan has quickly gained international recognition for their drive to create innovative expressions that allow whisky to be experienced in new and unexpected ways.
