Previously only released as part of single casks, Nikka decided to add their Coffey Malt to their core range in 2014. Distilled in a Coffey still, normally used for grain whisky production, the malt is delightfully fruity and spicy. This is one of our favourites here at Dekanta! After releasing a number of single cask Coffey distilled grain whiskies, this is Nikka’s larger release of their Japanese single grain whisky. It is mostly made of corn and distilled in the continuous Coffey stills at the Miyagikyo distillery, which were imported from Scotland in 1963. This is stunning stuff.
*This particular bottling was produced prior to the introduction of Japanese whisky labeling standards in February 2021.*
